Nutritional Blindness Prevention Program in Bangladesh

Where a small donation creates a long-term effect

One of the largest and most successfully implemented food-based programs todate. This program increased both production and consumption of carotene-rich foods in the district of Gaibandah (population 1.9 million) – by providing almost 2 million home gardens. It cost only US$0.13 per capita per year and within only three years had a measurable positive impact on the diet of young children while virtually eradicating nutritional blindness.
